I Hart Space! - Chapter 3: Out of This World, Part I

Welcome back to the Hart Legacy!  It's Kristina again, and our fearless family is back with me to usher in generation four.  As you can probably tell from the graphic, Roxanne and I decided that the delightfully evil Eris will be our heiress.  Let's see how this budding public enemy got on when she returned to my neck of the woods.

Just a friendly warning - you'd better all get used to this face now.  This is the first of many cackles to come.

So after loading up the lot and the family, I was immediately amused by the amount of side-eye Andromeda is giving Pluto here.  It's as if she knows something's not quite right with this kid.  After playing him for a while, let's just say that I understand where she's coming from.

Things quickly return to form however, as Ceres and Collin go in for an autonomous hug.  This IS the Hart family after all.  It's what they do.  It's good to know that the family hasn't lost anything in the transfer between computers.

Meanwhile, as the family takes turns hugging and glaring at each other, Eris surveys her kingdom. She looks mighty pleased with herself, doesn't she? As a reminder, Eris's traits are evil, music lover, and gloomy.  Her aspiration is to become a public enemy.  We have a lot of work to do.

As the game loads up on a Sunday, the family heads to the park to start working on some of their more social goals.  Ceres and Pluto both find some sims to befriend, as Collin's aspiration involves his kids having friends.

Collin, meanwhile, enjoys the great outdoors with some fishing.  He just loves being outside.  Hey Roxy, remember that great time you had making sure he slept in a tent for five nights for his first aspiration?  Ahh, memories...

Part of becoming a public enemy involves climbing high in the criminal career track.  That means Eris needs to max out her mischief skill, something that I've never done before.  Since I don't want to ruin the relationships she has with her family, she embarks on a reign of terror around the park, pranking everyone on the premises.  As she gets positive moodlets when sims are unhappy around her, she revels in this process.

She does have the good grace to pretend to be sorry when she makes Viviana cry.  By the end of the day she's made it up to level 5 in the mischief skill.  All in all, it was a very productive trip.

As the next day dawns, Eris and the kids head off to work and school, respectively.  Collin works in his garden, which is mercifully large enough to keep him busy for several hours each day.

Later on, Pluto, of all people, brings home Malcolm Landgraab, the friend he met at the park the previous day after school.  He immediately picks a fight with him while he eats his snack.  Pluto's current traits are just active and geek, but he has a real cranky streak running through him.  Eris, meanwhile, sits nearby and enjoys soaking in everyone's misery.

Then, because she's Eris, she changes seats so she can also get in on making fun of Malcolm. She's now up to mischief level 6.

Meanwhile, back in the nice half of the family, outgoing, clumsy Ceres receives homework help from Andromeda.  This helps Andromeda reach the next step in her "Successful Lineage" aspiration.  Andromeda has got to be one of the most successful sims I've ever played.  I believe this is her fourth aspiration, after conquering a fortune one, an art one and a tech one.

Over the next few days, everyone works on their skills and settles in.  There's still lots of hugging.  Naturally.

Collin, with little to do besides tool around outside and wait for a day he actually has to go into his music job, manages to catch something interesting on a fishing trip to the park.  He plants this mysterious "cowplant berry" in a special spot in his garden.

Eris also develops a special project to work on during her down time.  Since every villain deserves a secret headquarters, I built her a little room on the back corner of the Hart property.  It's not very elaborate, there's just an area to read, shower...

And work on building a secret rocket ship.  You know, the basics.  Since she's basically going to be spending her life spreading misery to everyone around her, I figure that we'd better search off-world for a husband.

This pleases Eris.

So, guess what happens in the Hart household if you don't directly assign a bed to Pluto?  He chooses to sleep in bed with his mother.  In the bedroom designed to give flirty moodlets.  Something's wrong with this one.  He's the Aries for a new generation.

Before long, it's time for a Hart family birthday.  It's Collin's time to age up into an elder.  We celebrate with a quiet party at home, for which I managed to get the whole family in the same room.  Pluto kept his distance though.

He's never looked more like the bro he is.

Collin's new advanced age doesn't hold him back from doing all of the things he loves to do though, like rocking out on the guitar,

...making out with his hot young wife,

...or setting fire to the kitchen - for the third time, if you remember what he got up to in Roxy's game.

Luckily, Eris is there to put it out.  Just like her mother before her in Granite Falls.

Yep, age doesn't slow Collin down one bit.  He's totally aware of what's going on around him at all times.

Meanwhile, progress on Eris's secret rocket ship continues apace.  She's at level 3 rocket science.  She takes a rocket-building selfie to celebrate.

Not wanting to neglect any of the evil arts, she also practices using a voodoo doll that Roxy fished up during her turn and thoughtfully left in the house for her to use.

She's absolutely terrible at it.  Neither of us have any idea how to make it work properly.  This doesn't seem to bother Eris too much though, as she cackles in evil glee after completely failing to perform any voodoo.

Also cackle-worthy: hot dogs.

Elsewhere in the house, things aren't going quite as swimmingly.  Pluto, who has the soulmate aspiration, is pining away for a special someone.  He copes with his loneliness by grilling fruit at 4 A.M. and looking wistfully towards the skies.  Seriously, he did this more than once.

He also attempted to lie about his non-existent career to Eris.  This was not a smart move, as Eris can sniff out mischief a mile away. She's up to level six now, and is a lot better at being a sneak than Pluto is.

He looks so disappointed that she didn't fall for it, doesn't he?

Ceres, sensing tension, calls up one of her friends to see if she can't find Pluto a special someone to cheer him up.

Eris, sensing tension, manipulates Pluto into streaking around the neighborhood and enjoys his embarrassed moodlet afterwards.

We have just enough time to get Pluto dressed again before Cassandra Goth arrives.  Pluto hits it off with her right away, and they settle in for some cloud gazing.  It's funny because in Roxy's save for this family, Cassandra is grown up and is good friends with Andromeda.  It looks like Cassandra is destined to be useful to the Harts.

Speaking of Andromeda, she's staying out of the teen drama in the house and has been occupying herself by autonomously painting several masterpieces.  She's so consistently good all the time.  Things will be different soon with Eris at the head of the family...

...because she is consistently bad.  With the unwilling help of Dennis Kim here, she's achieved level 7 mischief skill.

Yep, this is the way most of her encounters with humans outside of her family end now.

After a few more days of relationship building, things are looking pretty good for Pluto.  He has his first kiss with Cassandra.

Perhaps sensing that Eris won't believe his conquest, he immediately takes a picture afterwards to record this momentous occasion.

They are actually pretty cute together.  Pluto doesn't try mean socials with her, so I don't have to watch them every second.

Things even get a little PG-rated later on that night in the hot tub.

Yeah, he's pretty proud of himself.  Now that I've given him what he wanted and completed the first step in his aspiration, he ought to act a little more normal now.  I mean, he's just a spare, so he totally owes me, right?

STOP TRYING TO SLEEP WITH YOUR PARENTS IN THEIR FLIRTY BEDROOM!!!

"Oh hey, the cowplant sprouted!" she exclaimed, trying to forget about Pluto's unnaturally strong desire to sleep in his parents' bedroom.  Meet Betelgeuse.

Of course, Eris takes a shine to him right away.  This is the first cowplant I've grown in The Sims 4, and I have to say, the animations are really cool.  Hopefully I can remember to keep him fed.

With all of the excitement going on around the house lately, Ceres has taken a bit of a backseat.  She's been working on the skills she needs to achieve her nerd brain aspiration.  Hitting level six in logic completes the first step.

Being such a social being, however, means that Ceres wants nothing more than to make a few new friends.  Collin wants her to make them too, for his family aspiration.  I have her head down to the park to meet some people.  Eris tags along too, because she's always up for gaining mischief skill.

Let's see if we can spot the differences between how Ceres and Eris behave at the park.  Ceres makes polite conversation and becomes friends with Dierdre over the chess board.

Eris spouts conspiracy theories in an attempt to irritate Caden.

Ceres gets to know Malcolm and becomes fast friends with him during a peaceful walk.  Now she has three friends and her social bar is a nice, healthy green.

Eris gives Kassandra fake bad news until she cries and then laughs about it.  She gains some very positive moodlets from being around unhappy people. You can hardly tell her and Ceres apart, right?

After a productive day at the park, Eris chats with Collin while sipping a moodlet solver.  She's had a long day of bothering people and is looking forward to an even longer night of rocket-building.  Collin hasn't been up to much lately, just tending his garden and playing his guitar mostly.  Unfortunately for him, it looks like I won't be able to complete his Big Happy Family aspiration.  Despite Ceres having three friends, his aspiration won't register it.  The same thing happened on Roxy's computer.  He's bugged.  At least he got to finish his outdoors aspiration.

Speaking of the rocket, it's really coming along.  Eris finished the basic construction on it long ago and has been working on upgrades.  She's reached level seven in the rocket science skill and has installed several parts that are supposed to help her to not die during her future space missions.

The way the rocket works is that you can start taking trips in it once you finish the basic construction, but the upgrades make it less likely to crash and break into a million pieces.  The upgrades unlock as you gain rocket science skill.  I want to get as many upgrades as possible before taking the ship out, so when Eris runs out of actual work to do on the rocket, she studies rocket science from a book.  Betelgeuse makes a good study buddy apparently.

However, like many other Harts before her, Eris hates sitting still to read something.  She will do literally any other thing she can think of to get out of studying, like showing Ceres funny videos on her phone...

...or trying to perform voodoo on her brother.  You know, normal teen stuff.  Pluto, by the way, did not react to this at all, despite it being supposedly successful. I still have no idea how voodoo works.

Before long, it's time for a double birthday.  Eris is aging into an adult, and Andromeda is becoming an elder.  Eris bakes for the occasion, but not before taking a "baking my own birthday cake" selfie.

We had a quiet celebration at home because Eris' evil behavior has guaranteed that she has literally no friends aside from her family.  Although, looking at the background, maybe her family isn't that crazy about her either...

Not too shabby!  She actually looks like she actually would be evil, but I think that's all due to Roxy's good makeup and clothing choices when she aged up into a teen.  She adds gloomy to her other personality traits, and I immediately have her take a job in the criminal career track. This is enough to fulfill a step in her aspiration.  Next up on her quest to become a public enemy, she must be promoted a bit in her career and get into five fights.  That should not be too hard, as I know for a fact that there are several people in the neighborhood who are waiting to take a swing at her.

Andromeda is up next and her family is way more excited to see her blow out her candles.  Naturally.

She becomes an exceedingly cute elder and immediately seeks out Collin for a little alone time.

They have little to do now aside from going to work, romancing each other silly and waiting for the grandbabies to show up.

So Eris is gloomy now, like her father before her.  That means she spends a lot of time walking around like this for no reason.  How wonderful.  She didn't go one full day as an adult without waking up with the sad moodlet.

She cooks a particularly evil breakfast though, which cheers her right up.

She also has to mischief people for her job now, which, lets be honest, she was going to do anyway, but that also makes her quite happy.

So with Eris now in the workforce and Ceres and Pluto attending their last few days of high school, Collin and Andromeda spend time on their hobbies.  Collin still takes care of his garden.

Andromeda works on the computer for her programming job.

They do a lot of this too, autonomously of course.  They are a very sweet couple, and they basically have free reign at this point, after completing career requirements.

And when the kids get home, they still give out a lot of hugs.

Speaking of kids getting home, Eris returns from her first day of work promotionless.  Let's hope she's not as slow to climb the career ladder as her grandmother, Galaxy.

As Eris works nights, she spends the next day working on the other part of her aspiration - fighting!  She spots her chance when she runs into Dina Caliente at the park.  We starts off with a little light jeering.

After that, she tried throwing a drink in her face...

...and failed miserably.

It didn't matter though, because all of a sudden, it was ON!  Only Eris would brawl in the middle of a playground.  This was my first-ever fight in The Sims 4.

It was glorious.

Eris lost.  Big time.  Luckily for her, her aspiration only requires her to get in fights, not win them.

Not content to simply watch from the sidelines, Katrina Caliente decided she wanted some too.

Fight number two was also glorious...

...and another loss.  I guess you shouldn't mess with the Caliente family.  At this point, Eris was pretty dazed, so she headed home to work on other skills for a while.

Meanwhile, Collin is still wandering around with Andromeda, doing whatever the heck he wants.  He's been promoted to Serious Musician and Andromeda is now a Pro Gamer.

Pluto and Ceres are also plugging away at their few remaining teen days, taking care of homework and some last minute skills.

Eris, having reached rocket science level 8, is finally ready to try out her space ship.  At this level of knowledge, books are way to slow to build the skill efficiently, so it's time to get some hands-on experience in space.  She dons her space suit and waves goodbye to a world she does nothing but torment.

Only Betelgeuse is around to watch her departure.

She eventually returns, alive and with a pretty pink space rock.

She uses it to decorate her secret lair.

Pretty soon, it's time for Ceres to become an adult. Eris does the honors of baking the cake.

Even Pluto gets into the spirit with a little celebrating.

Ceres stays as cute as ever, and picks up the cheerful trait, which couldn't be more perfect for her.

However, the mood is spoiled a bit when the message about Collin not having that much time left pops up.  Ceres was already autonomously hugging him at the time.  I'm definitely going to miss Collin when he goes.  He's very handy to have around and treats his family well.

Ceres will wait the additional day for Pluto to grow up, so they can move out together.  In the meantime, she works out a bit to fill the hours.

Eris continues her study of rocket science, heading to space once more and reading a little bit too.  She's at a level eight currently.

She also has two space rocks now for her lair.

She's also at a level eight in mischief and needs a few more fights for her aspiration. She heads to the park to look for trouble, like usual.  She spots her prey in the distance.

After a few rounds of jeering, instilling with false confidence, invitations to fake parties and spouting conspiracy theories, Misty's had enough.

And that's the tale of how Eris beat up an old woman.

She won too, but I don't think there's much honor in this one.  Misty looked like she was about to die before the fight started.

Dina also appears, and the two pick up right where they left off.  Eris lost again, by the way.  We now have five total fights!  The only thing left to do for her aspiration is work more on the career.  It's going poorly, by the way.  Bad chance cards and Eris' slowness at the job are making promotions hard to come by.

If you're wondering if Pluto is continuing to be weird during this time, the answer is obviously yes.

However, it's finally his birthday, so we won't have to put up with it much longer.  This time, Ceres bakes the cake.

He gets some amazing air on his birthday spin, and pops into...

...a pretty darned handsome guy.  He adds "hates children" to his traits.  I can't help but feel this came out of that one time Eris was mean to him as a child and broke his personality.

Though he may be an adult now, I suppose Pluto will always be Eris' little brother.  She did this autonomously, by the way.  Right after he aged up.

With Ceres and Pluto all grown up, it's time for them to hit the road so I can focus in on Eris and bring in the next generation of this legacy.  Before they leave, the whole family sits down to enjoy one last meal together.

And then, I kid you not, they all break into a spontaneous dance party in the basement.  The Harts are pretty weird and wonderful.

That's it for part 1 of this chapter!  Check back soon for Part 2, in which we will see Eris fight, cackle and search the skies for a husband who can put up with her evil ways.  For other great sims stories and discussions, visit Roxy and me at SiMania!
